Fiction concentrates on exploring imagination through writing; it focuses on the human experience. Fiction prioritizes style of writing, characters, theme and diving into the complexities of human behaviour.

​In poetry you learn how to evoke emotion into text with rhythmic metaphors used to arouse the creator's imagination. Poetry concentrates on figurative language, emotional & negative impact, rhythm & sound, structure form, and distinction from prose. Forms of poetry structure could vary between being able to freeform or having very strict rules. Poetries that have strict formats are sonnet, villanelle, haiku, and sestina

Sonnets require 14 lines, iambic pentameter, and specific rhyme schemes; for example shakespearean, ABAB CDCD EFEF GG.

Villanelle requires 19 lines; stanzas: five tercets followed by one quatrains; refrains: the first and third lines of the initial tercet (refrain a and refrain b) alternate as the last line of subsequent tercets.

Haiku is a short Japanese poem that consists of 3 lines, syllabus 5-7–5 pattern; traditionally focused on nature, seasons, and intends to evoke imagery related to the natural world; conciseness: haiku is known for being direct and straight forward, being able to convey a powerful message within a few words.

Sestina is a complex requiring 39 lines; stanza 1: requiring 6 lines each ending with a unique word; stanza 2-6: the following 5-stanzas that use the same 6 end words in a specific, repeating order; envoi the concluding stanza: the final 3 lines, all of the six end words appear, with three at the ends of the words and three within the lines.
English literature is used to understand and learn the complexities of human nature and text. There are 4 main genres of English literature; poetry, drama, non fiction, fiction. There are also many subgenres in English literature like fantasy, horror, romance, mystery, and many more.

Some of the major drama types are comedy, typically prioritizing humour and engagement. Tragedy sequencing tragic events, a serious play, and typically having an unhappy ending. Famous literary drama examples are Shakespeare ; Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and Macbeth
