It's used to exchange ideas with respect and build shared understandings from a diverse viewpoint. 

 

The concept is utilized to transform ideas and information to create original text, using various genres, forms, structure, and styles. The First Peoples competency focuses on understanding Indigenous ways of knowing, culture, and connection to the land. It teaches about respect, relationships, and the importance of learning from different perspectives. This competency helps students see how everything is connected from people, land, animals, and stories all depend on one another. 

 

It also encourages listening and understanding. When learning about Indigenous history, such as residential schools and cultural traditions, it shows how strong and resilient Indigenous communities are. These lessons help build awareness about reconciliation and why it matters today.
